Another great example of the Daily Mail hyping up a non-BBC story. The original press release on December 12th said pretty much all this. And to save you searching, here it is: http://www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice/pressreleases/stories/2008/12_december/12/today.shtml

Co-Hosts leave Xfm Breakfast Show
Listener:
Where has Marc and Pete gone from the Alex Zane breakfast show?
Adam Uytman:
Firstly apologies for sending this as a mass e-mail to more than one recipient – as there were a few of you that e-mailed with similarly worded complaints I felt it the best way to respond. I do appreciate you getting in touch with me regarding your thoughts on the recent changes to the XFM breakfast show, and assure you that we take all feedback on board.
So yes, you have rightly noticed that Marc and Pete recently stopped appearing on the breakfast show. We launched the show back in May of last year, and in that time the show has gone from strength to strength – a show I can tell from your e-mails you all love to listen to. However, in order to continue to keep our wider listenership interested in both the show and the station we must constantly review and refresh the sound – we did decide that a year and a half in it was time to refresh the format. It was our feeling that there were just too many voices involved, and feedback from many was that it was at times to hard to follow – each one of the guys on the show are extremely talented, but in our opinion we were trying to do too much at once. I’m sure you will agree Alex is an immensely talented, naturally entertaining and funny presenter – as such we decided to focus on Alex’s personality, further establishing him as the main voice, and using his strengths as a credible music presenter to get the right balance between the great morning content that he comes up with and the music he plays.
You may or may not know that Pete and Marc are still very much with the station. Both are now presenting solo - Pete now hosts early breakfast from Friday through to Sunday mornings, and Marc has just started a brand new film show for Sunday afternoons (very entertaining show as well!).
We’ve received a lot of positive feedback from other people, and I do genuinely believe that if you give the new show format a bit of time you will come to love it as much as before. I appreciate your disappointment at the changes we have made, but hope that you’ll stick with us as I really do believe Alex Zane is by far the strongest breakfast listen available on the dial – something I want to make more of, not less.
Kind regards
Adam Uytman
